AuthorShelf packages ($399–$2,989) buy coordinated production plus a lifetime Author Portal: phases, files, eProof, messaging, and royalty visibility after Title Live. Distribution still uses professional retail rails — you are not inventing a store from scratch.
A practical hybrid mindset
Some authors DIY a second edition later after learning the ropes. Others want human production the first time so the book is not delayed by tool overwhelm. Neither path is “wrong” — the wrong path is paying high hybrid prices without listed inclusions or rights clarity.
