A useful book royalties calculator has three inputs: list price, what the store keeps, and print manufacturing (for physical copies). If a tool hides print cost, it is a marketing toy.

How to use AuthorShelf’s calculator

2. Set trim, page count, and color vs black-and-white (that drives print cost).
3. Set a test list price you would actually put on the cover.
4. See whether paperback net is still positive. If not, change trim, length, or price — not “hope.”
