Proofreading services prices should be a last-pass number, not a substitute for developmental or copy editing. If the plot or argument still wobbles, proofreading will not save it.
What you are buying
Proofreading catches residual typos, small consistency misses, and errors that survived larger edits. Copy editing prices cover grammar, usage, and style at sentence level. AuthorShelf lists copyediting + proofreading at $799 as one combined SKU. Developmental editing is separate ($380).
