Book Royalties Calculator: How to Model Net Per Copy

A useful book royalties calculator has three inputs: list price, what the store keeps, and print manufacturing (for physical copies). If a tool hides print cost, it is a marketing toy.

How to use AuthorShelf’s calculator

  1. Open Resources — royalty calculator.
  2. Set trim, page count, and color vs black-and-white (that drives print cost).
  3. Set a test list price you would actually put on the cover.
  4. See whether paperback net is still positive. If not, change trim, length, or price — not “hope.”

AuthorShelf does not take a percentage of book sales. Net = channel earnings − print cost for units sold. Explainer: Amazon KDP royalties · author royalties · how to price a book.

Next step: Self publishing packages ($399–$2,989) · Author services · Author Readiness Call
